I’m currently in the process of renovating an old house with the aim of moving in by spring 2010.
Frankly, at the moment that dream seems a long way off as there is still a huge amount of work to be done.
My main priority at the moment is the purchase of roof shingles, support beams and the hiring of a roofer so I can get the place watertight and windproof before the winter arrives.
There seems to be a huge selection of roof shingles available online so plenty of research will be necessary.
However, despite all hard work ahead I’m positive that when completed it will all be worth it – especially after reading the news that house prices are rising.
Paintball Packages at the perfect time of year November 2, 2009

With cooler weather on the way I’ve been looking at paintball packages in the hope that I can persuade some friends or work colleagues to join me in some fun.
Traditionally thought of as more of a summer pursuit on account of it being an energetic outdoor activity, anyone who has been paintballing on a hot summer day will tell you that it is frustrating to hit your target (usually your best friend or boss) dead on target only to have it bounce off. This is because the heat softens the paint ball so it bounces rather than bursts.
The phenomenon above only happens form distance, so it can be even more fun getting right up close and showering your bud in paint. Anyway, with this time of year the perfect opportunity for paintball I’m going to get out there.
Quad bike trekking – a newly discovered passion October 26, 2009

Thanks to a stag night with some friends, I have discovered a new passion in life, which has quickly became a favourite hobby.
That is because we went quad bike trekking through the Scottish countryside. It was an exhilarating experience, and one that I have repeated many times since then.
A quad bike is able to go over some of the roughest terrain you will find, and trekking through the countryside gives you a unique look at the natural world.
If you want to experience the thrill of quad biking, there are many places where you can book outdoor events. I believe it is something that everyone should try.
Good news for long tall Sally and friends – clothes that fit! October 26, 2009

As the saying goes, the grass on the other side of the fence is always greener. My shorter friends regularly complain that they wish they were a long tall Sally like my other friend so that they could strut elegantly down a catwalk (although how often they think she actually does that, I’m not sure!). And my tall friend looks at my petite friends and yearn to be able to walk into a high street shop and try on clothes in regular sizes.
Still, things have got better for lofty lasses recently, with an explosion in the number of websites where you can purchase fashionable clothing, designed specifically with tall women in mind. These sites offer a range of classic and innovative designs – plus they provide accurate sizing guides (see here for more info) so that you can order online with confidence. OK, it’s not quite the same as walking into a shop and being able to buy something off the hangar, but it’s definitely goes a long way to help those who want to wear the height of fashion.

Finding work in the current economic climate is not easy, which is why I thought I would offer some advice on succeeding at an interview test.
For example, you should not underestimate the importance of body language. Make sure you appear confident at the interview, while also being polite and friendly to everyone you come into contact with.
During the interview, be sure to think about your answers carefully, and do not say anything negative about previous employers.
Of course, this is just a beginning. You will be able to get lots of advice on succeeding at interviews at a variety of sites, including here.
Recycle your mobile phones for cash October 22, 2009

Current estimates suggest that there are over 50 million mobile phones lying around unused, doing nothing but decreasing in value.
That’s four per household, so why don’t you get on the hunt and find them? After all you can recycle your mobile phones for cash.
With some phones worth over £150, and recycling companies even offering money for damaged phones, there really is no reason against it!
It couldn’t be any simpler to do, either. Just search online for the mobile phone recycling company that’s offering the best deal, send your old phones away and within a couple of days you’ll get a cheque for the agreed amount.
And it won’t just be your pocket that profits, as it is an environmentally friendly method too.

There is little that a woman enjoys more than a man who knows how to cook – bar perhaps a gent who owns a shoe shop.
But what to cook? You need something straightforward and quick, yet a dish that looks highly impressive and one that your potential partner will believe you’ve spent hours preparing.
You’ll find plenty of good recipes on the web (try here) but why not try a water melon and Parma ham, followed by a light pasta dish (choose your favourite) and for dessert cheesecake.
With such a feast of a meal behind her, your date will be already salivating at the thought of what you’ll make for breakfast!
Graduate jobs – finding that all-important first job October 21, 2009

Our neighbour’s son graduated last June with an Honours degree in languages, and then spent the first month of the summer holidays weeding borders and cutting lawns by day and searching the graduate jobs featured in recruitment websites (like this one) by night. Much to his parents’ relief (and ours – there are only so many times you want to have your lawn cut!) his efforts paid off. One of the job-finder sites he visited alerted him to a vacancy in the sales department of a large multinational company (examples of companies) – he submitted his CV online, was invited to attend a first and then second interview and this week received his letter of appointment. Job done!
Energy saving pursuits October 21, 2009

I’m a keen cyclist for many reasons, but one of them has to be the fact that it is an effective energy saving pursuit. I am of course talking about energy utilities such as gas and electricity, even petrol. I’m all about saving money where I can, so I aim to switch to the best provider but also take measures to decrease my bills – for personal and green reasons.
Andrew Ritchie, the inventor of the fold-away bicycle, has recently been honoured for his inventive contribution. The Duke of Edinburgh presented the inventor with the Prince Philip Designers Prize at Buckingham Palace.
The bike was originally invented by Mr Ritchie in 1979 and has been tweaked over the years. It is the perfect urban vehicle that can keep you fit, save you money and contribute to the environment, even motivating other energy saving measures.
Vegetarian recipes – simple hummus October 13, 2009
Posted by briancooperson in Uncategorized.add a comment
Vegetarian dishes can be simple to prepare and absolutely delicious. For an example, here is a classic Mediterranean dish, hummus.
First, ensure you have all the ingredients. For hummus you need tahini, paprika, cumin, chickpeas, garlic and a little lemon juice.
Then drain the chickpeas, but conserve the juice. Blend the rest of the ingredients together until smooth, added the juice from the chickpeas to ensure the right consistency is obtained.
Remember to taste the hummus before serving to see if it requires any extra seasoning.
Serve with warmed pitta bread for a tasty snack.
There are many other recipes to find on the Internet, if you look in the right places.
